Greetings from Lassen Volcanic National Park!

I had the best weekend of my life in Lassen last weekend. With a backpack, a few days worth of food and one of my closest friends, I took off from Juniper Lake and headed out. The amount of stress I showed up with was earth-shattering. I just graduated college and have been working at least 2 jobs for the past year. Dealing with the transitions and the moving and the financial stress of it all had really weighed me down, and the weekend was absolutely needed. After catching an amazing view at Inspiration Point where we could see Lassen, Shasta and Snag Lake, I permanently dropped the weight. We loved Horseshoe Lake so much from it's crystal clean water to the beautiful trees that surrounded the quiet lake that we couldn't get away from it! My friend and I are were so grateful for our trip, we left an extra donation with our parking pass. Immersing ourselves in nature as beautiful as Lassen was exactly what we needed to set ourselves straight again. I haven't been happier and the feeling I left with was the best part of it all.

XOXO,

Natalie Lessa

P.S. I support the parks because… when I visit them, I am the happiest I've ever been. It feels like I've returned home.

At Lassen Volcanic National Park you'll hear bubbles burst in moiling mud pots, sniff pungent whiffs of sulphur from fumaroles, and feel the sting of the earth's hot breath on your skin.
