Greetings from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore!
After a recent move to northern Michigan from Chicago, my wife and I made a promise that on our first night we would go to our favorite sunset spot in the world, Pierce Stocking Drive in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It was early spring, and still quite cold, but the sunset was fantastic. What used to be a once a year experience is now in our backyard. 365 days a year the sun goes down on lake Michigan, and we are looking forward to seeing a lot more at Sleeping Bear Dunes.
P.S. I support the parks because… The parks' land has always existed, but the parks themselves only exist as long as we protect them.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
Sleeping Bear Dunes features magnificent sand dunes that reach up to 400 feet above the lake--the world's largest collection of fresh water sand dunes. Lake Michigan and its shoreline were carved out by the advance and retreat of huge glaciers over the last two million years.
