Greetings from Zion National Park!

This is a painting I did in March 2017 in the park. Thomas Moran and others played a great part in forming the National park System with their magnificent paintings. Unfortunately the park superintendent at Zion Park has arbitrarily decided against artists in "his" park from coming in a group as they pose somehow a risk and or clutter up and obstruct the place. Please write to him and ask him to reconsider.

Sincerely,

John Hewitt

P.S. I support the parks because… They belong to the people, not the park superintendent or the president, the people. They inspire and fill all with wonder. They must be kept available for young people to experience as part of life education.

Zion National Park

Striking rock towers and mesas, steep canyons, and flowing water create a wide variety of habitat at Zion National Park, from large mammals like mountain lions, to hardy desert plant life like cholla and juniper, to rare and threatened birds like the peregrine falcon, California condor, and Mexican spotted owl.
